Senior Creative Frontend Developer

  •   Amsterdam, Netherlands
  •   Open
  •   Experienced

Resn is looking for a full time senior creative developer to join the team at our studio in Amsterdam.

What sets you apart is your drive to make interactive things for the web that look and feel great on all kinds of browsers and devices. You have an eye for detail and love working in a multidisciplinary team to make the best interactive experiences possible.

You have plenty of experience working with realtime 3D using WebGL and libraries like Three.js and writing shaders feels like second nature to you. Next to that you love to make things move on a screen. You see interactive animations as an essential tool to make things fun and come alive.

Next to caring about the look and feel you take great pride in building something in a way that is predictable and sensible, creating abstractions, systems or tools where it's beneficial, but know when to be pragmatic, and avoid over engineering.

You love to experiment and try to push the web platform wherever you can, without losing sight of user scope. Making something perform at 60fps is always on top of your mind.

You are responsible and reliable. You take ownership of your work, can estimate new requirements / tasks accurately at the drop of a hat and can communicate and collaborate effectively in a team structure.

If this sounds like you then we would love to chat about creating awesome things together. Below is the skill set of what our ideal candidate looks like, but if you have a strong combination of skills that don't exactly align with those, we’d still encourage you to apply.

  • 7+ years of experience as a (frontend/creative) developer
  • Skilled in making animations for the web, both physics-based and time-based
  • Experience with WebGL/Three.js and writing shaders
  • Experience working on large and complex interactive projects with multidisciplinary creative and technical teams.
  • Comfortable with setting up the frontend architecture for complex interactive web applications
  • An expert in systems architecture (think state management, loading strategy, separation of concerns)
  • Good understanding of the 3D production pipeline
  • Doesn't shy away from using CSS/DOM-based approaches when it's the right tool for the job

Bonus points

  • Experience developing browser based games
  • Experience with any other visually driven development languages (think OpenFrameworks, Processing)
  • Prior development experience for native platforms like Unity, Android or iOS

In return we offer

  • Diverse and interesting projects from the world’s leading brands and agencies
  • The opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team that is keen to help grow your skills and learn new ones
  • A company culture that embraces the ‘weird’, doesn’t take itself too seriously and thrives off it’s various multi-cultural pop culture references
  • A canal bound iconic area studio environment (for when we are able to be together working safely again)
